Today, we have a 2024 Subaru Forester, and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how easy it is to install this CURT Four-Pole Trailer Wiring Harness. So if you've got a trailer hitch on your Subaru Forester and you're wanting to start pulling trailers with it, first off, you will want to check with your owner's manual, see what your vehicle's capable of pulling. And then second off, you'll want to add four-pole wiring. The four-pole wiring is gonna give your four lighting functions, which are going to be your stop and turn signals and your running light signals. That's going to safely transfer from the back of your vehicle to your trailer lights to let others know what your intentions are when you're going down the road. more

Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2015 Subaru Forester- Video
Welcome to etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins trailer wiring harness here on our 2015 Subaru Forester. The 4-pole trailer wiring connector is gonna help our vehicle provide the necessary lighting functions to keep us safe on the road to our trailer, our left turn, our right turn, our running lights, and our brakes to help us stay DOT compliant. A lot of trailer wiring harnesses out there on the market, you're gonna have to run a separate power wire all the way up to the front of the vehicle to connect to the battery. With the Hopkins wiring harness, we don't have to do that, because there's already a towing prep package port right behind this panel here on the Subaru. With plugging into the factory prep package port on our vehicle, we also have an inline module that's gonna protect our vehicle from any back feed from our trailer's wiring system, so that way if there's a problem on the trailer, it does not affect the lights on our vehicle. more

Now many accessories today, like your cargo carriers or bike racks will have lights built into them, and that way if they're blocking the view of the lights of your vehicle people can still see what you're doing, and that's gonna be accomplished by a 4-pole wiring harness. Now this is also gonna work with your small trailers that have 4-pole. That way when you turn on your headlights, you'll have the lights on the trailer working as well as your turn signals and brake signals. Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look and installing the Tekonsha T-One trailer wiring harness for a 2022 Subaru Impreza. So here you can see, we have our wiring installed, and this is gonna be a four-pole connection. So what this is gonna do is allow you to send signals from your vehicle to your trailer that has a four-pole, and that's gonna include your running lights, your turn signals, as well as your brake lights. And that's gonna let people behind you know what you're doing when you're towing, and it's gonna keep you safe and legal. more

Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Hopkins trailer wiring harness here on a 2017 Subaru Outback. A trailer wiring harness is gonna be required to tow a trailer here with your Outback. In addition to this, we're going to need a trailer hitch as well as a ball mount/hitch ball. All of which we carry here at etrailer. So to simply put, a trailer wiring harness is gonna transfer these signals from our vehicle to our trailer so we can let other motorists out on the road know what signals we're gonna be or making allowing us to ride to our destination safe and sound. So this is not only a legal requirement in pretty much every state, but a lot of the time, some of our trailers especially in the camping trailers are actually gonna block the tail lights on the vehicle. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look, and installing, a Curt Trailer Wiring harness on a 2012 Subaru Outback. Here`I have it just kinda sitting in this little pocket, which is totally fine, but the great part about living in the vehicle, is you can actually hide this under the cabinet here, and that's outta sight, and you'll never know it's there, until you need to use it. Now, when hooking up to your trailer, you're simply gonna run this out of the hatch. Now, make sure you don't have it in the actual latch here, so it doesn't pinch. more

So, a trailer wiring harness is gonna be one of those required components we need to tow a trailer with our vehicle here. Now in the most basic form, it's gonna transfer the lights from the vehicle to our trailer, to let others out on the road know what we're gonna be doing, what signals we're gonna be making, so we can arrive to our destination safe, sound, and legal. So, this harness here is gonna come with the most standard type of trailer connector, and that's a four-pole flat, or also referred to as a four-way flat. And this is gonna transmit stop and turn signal circuits for both the left and right side, as well as the running lights. Most of the trailers we could potentially be towing with our Outback, are gonna use or utilize this type of trailer connector. more

And one of the really cool things about this wiring setup is the fact that you're not even gonna be able to see it whenever you're not using it, especially if you're using a hidden type hitch. Everything is gonna look the factory back here. But whenever you are ready to use it, all you're gonna have to do is open up the hatch and the wiring is actually going to live inside the vehicle. more
